Unforgettable concerts. (평생 잊지 못할 콘서트)
Lee Mun-Sae is a ballad singer who was a big deal in the 80s and 90s. He was also a household name among radio DJs. I went to one of his concerts with my dad when I was in middle school. As a 40-something now, I still enjoy his music.
Last year, my middle school-aged daughter told me she wanted to attend a Lee Mun-Sae concert. I had my reservation about attending an in-person concert amid the coronavirus pandemic. I booked the tickets nonetheless, but the concert was puched back as the pandemic became worst. On the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday the next year, when my daughter was getting ready to enter high school, we finally attended the concert.
As soon as I heard the first song, it was so beautiful that my eyes welled up. During the concert, Mr. Lee Mun-Sae read aloud a story I had shared on his instagram account. He expressed gratitude that three generations of our family-my dad, my daughter, and myself enjoyed his concerts. He also took a request and sang it for us right the and there. He even refunded the cost of our tickets, calling it New Year's pocket money. I was surprised again and again.
이문세는 80~90년대에 많은 사랑을 받았던 발라드 가수이고, 유명한 라디오 DJ이기도 했다. 나는 중학생 때 아빠와 함께 그분의 콘서트에 갔었다. 마흔이 넘는 지금도 그분의 노래를 즐겨 듣는다.
지난해 중학생인 딸아이가 이문세의 콘서트에 가고 싶다고 말했다. 나는 코로나 시대에 대면 공연을 관람하는 것이 걱정이 되었다. 그래도 티켓을 예매했는데, 코로나 상황이 악화되어 콘서트가 연기되었다. 다음 해 설 연휴 첫날 예비 고1이 된 딸과 드디어 콘서트에 갈 수 있었다.
첫 곡을 듣자마자 너무 아름다워서 눈물이 났다. 공연 도중 이문세 님께서 내가 그분의 인스타그램에 남겼던 사연을 읽어 주었다. 우리 아빠, 우리 딸, 내가 3대에 걸쳐 본인의 공연을 즐겨줘서 고맙다고 했다. 또한 즉석에서 신청곡을 받아 노래를 불러 주기도 했다. 세뱃돈이라며 티켓 값까지 환불해 주어서 나를 놀라게 했다.
