I was born late in my parent's lives, the youngest of one son and one daughter. My parents are getting on in years now, and my brother is 11 years older than I am.
To be honest, I couldn't stand that my mom and dad were 10 years older than the parents of my friends when I was a little kid. But as I grow up, it has begun to dawn on me how hard it must have been to raise me, and how precious my parents are. I've come to realize that those immature thoughts were stupid.
As my parents and I grow older, I sometimes get a lump in my throat just from seeing them. I am filled with regret over hurting them when I was young and immature. I constantly resolve to be better to them while they are still alive and well.
부모님에 대해 이야기해 주세요.
나는 1남 1녀의 막내이자 늦둥이로 태어났다. 부모님은 이제 연로하시고, 오빠는 나보다 열한살이 많다.
솔직히, 어렸을 때는 우리 부모님이 다른 친구들의 부모님보다 열 살 넘게 연세가 많으신 것이 싫었다. 하지만 커 가면서, 부모님이 나를 얼마나 힘들게 키우셨을지, 부모님이 얼마나 소중한 지 느끼기 시작했다. 그런 철없는 생각들이 한심스럽다는 걸 깨닫게 된 것이다.
부모님도 나도 나이가 들면서, 가끔 부모님을 뵙기만 해도 울컥할 때가 있다. 어리고 철없던 시절에 부모님 마음을 아프게 했던 것이 후회가 많이 된다. 두 분이 건강하게 살아 계실 때 더 잘 해 드리자고 늘 다짐한다.
