I had some time to kill on the weekend recently, so I went to the library. There was a book I had been dying to read. The library had the book, so I began reading on the spot. Time flew by because it was so fun. I liked that it made me think a lot. Last year, I had to do some test prep, so I went to the library very often. Lots of people study at the library, so it's a great place to focus one's mind.

The biggest change to take over libraries recently is digitization. In the past, people had to look up books in person. Today, most libraries have electronic catalogs. Everything can be found in electronic databases on computer terminals throughout the library. All the material is hooked up, and processed online. Many books and periodicals have also gone digital, so people can read them on their screens. Also, people can bring their laptops along. They can make use of wi-fi while they study or get some work done.
