입트영(2019.1.2) Dental Health / 치아 건강

치아 건강을 위해 하는 일들에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

치아 건강은 상당히 중요하다고 생각한다. 치아 상태는 음식을 먹을 때 큰 영향을 미치고, 사람의 외모에도 적지 않은 영향을 끼친다. 나는 하루 세 번 이를 닦는다. 아침에 일어나자마자 세수를 하면서 이를 닦는다. 점심을 먹고 나서 회사에서 한 번 이를 닦고, 저녁에 잠을 자기 전에도 이를 닦는다. 저녁에도 치실을 이용해서 이 사이를 닦아 내기도 한다. 더불어, 구강 청결제를 이용해서 입 안을 행궈 세균을 제거한다. 치과에 가서 정기적으로 검진을 받는 것도 치아 건강을 위해서 하는 일이다. 일 년에 2회 정도 방문을 해서 치석을 제거하는 스케일링을 한다. 또한 충치가 생겼는지 검진을 받는다. 커피 등으로 치아가 변색되었을 경우에는 치아 미백 시술을 받기도 한다. 대학교 때는 치열이 고르지 못해서, 치아 교정을 했었다. 2년 동안 불편했지만, 이제는 매우 만족한다.


Talk about what you do to keep your teeth healthy.

I think that good dental health is of utmost importance. The condition of one's teeth has a major impact on eating, and also has a pivotal role in a person's outward appearance. I brush my teeth three times a day. I brush my teeth when I wash up, first thing in the morning. I also brush at the office after lunch, and once before I hit the sack at night. At night, I also clean between my teeth using dental floss. I also rinse my mouth with mouthwash to get rid of germs. Going to the dental clinic for regular check-ups is another thing I do for dental health. I visit about twice a year to get ride of plaque by scaling. I also have my teeth checked for cavities. When my teeth are stained because of coffee, I sometimes receive tooth whitening treatment. I had crooked teeth when I was in college, so I got braces. It was a pain in the neck for two years, but my satisfaction level is high.

[Speaking Tips]

dental floss
치실

'치실'을 dental floss라고 하고, '치실을 사용하다'는 use dental floss라고 하면 되지만, 이럴 경우에는 floss를 동사로 사용하는 것이 더 자연스럽다. 단, 동사로 사용할 경우에는 dental이라는 단어는 사용하지 않는다.

I always use dental floss to clean my teeth.
I'm too lazy to floss every night.
