Many young people these days aspire to start a business. Working for a company is fine and well, but more people long to be their own boss. Of course, starting a business is no walk in the park. Even if you have a game-changing idea, turning a profit by applying it to a business is a tall order. First of all, starting a business can cost a pretty penny. There are expenses for PR and operational costs, so it often takes a long time before you are in the black. In many cases, a business goes under without earning any profit at all. There are some people who build on their failure and try again. Even if business is humming early on, it's not easy to keep it up. Good timing is also important when hiring new employees or adding storefronts. Market research on demand for goods and services is needed to expand business.

요즘 많은 젊은이들이 창업을 꿈꾼다. 기업에 들어가서 일하는 것도 좋지만, 자기 사업을 하고 싶어하는 사람들이 많아지고 있다. 물론 창업이 만만치 않은 것은 사실이다. 아무리 혁신적인 아이디어를 가지고 있어도, 그것을 사업에 적용해서 수익을 창출하는 것은 정말 쉬운 일이 아니다. 우선 창업을 하는 데는 돈이 제법 많이 들 수 있다. 홍보나 운영에 들어가는 비용도 있어서, 수익을 내기까지는 시간이 상당히 오래 걸리는 경우가 많다. 끝내 수익을 내지 못하고 사업을 접는 경우도 수없이 많다. 이러한 실패를 딛고 다시 도전하는 사람들도 있다. 초기에 사업이 잘되어서 수익이 난다 해도, 그것을 유지해 가는 것도 쉽지 않다. 직원을 채용하고 매장을 추가로 낼 때도 타이밍을 잘 맞춰야 한다. 사업을 확장하기 위해서는 제품이나 서비스 수요에 대한 시장 조사도 해야 한다.

그럭저럭 괜찮은
이 표현의 표면적인 의미는 긍정적이지만, 대부분의 경우 실제 의미는 그렇지 않다. 어떤 대상이 그 자체로는 나쁘지 않지만 더 나은 대안이 있으며, 따라서 최선은 아니라는 뉘앙스를 전달할 때 쓰는 표현이다. 
 
예) Second place is fine and well, but I want the gold medal. (2등도 나쁘지는 않지만, 나는 금메달을 원해.)
This restaurant is fine and well, but I don't really like it. (이 음식점도 그럭저럭 나쁘지는 않은데, 나는 썩 마음에 들지 않아.)
