엄마의 일기장.

<말하기 연습>
One day, knocked on the door of my mother's room. I went inside and saw that she was writing in her journal. She writes down little stories from her days spent taking care of my children. She says she's keeping the journal for me, since I can't always be there to see the kinds myself.
어느 날, 문을 두드리고 친정어머니 방에 들어가 보니 일기를 쓰고 계셨습니다. 어머니는 저희 아이들을 돌보시며 생겨나는 소소한 에피소드들을 그날그날 기록하십니다. 한창 아이들이 예플 때 그 모습을 직접 다 보지 못하는 딸을 위해 일기를 쓰는 거라고 하십니다.

Her journal is filled with these memories. How the kids were feeling gloomy on rainy days, how they complained when they didn't like the clothes she picked out for them. And most of all, how they blew hearts to their grandma on the way to daycare because they loved her so much.
엄마의 일기장에는 이런 기록들이 가득 담겨 있습니다. 비가 오는 날에는 아이들도 덩달아 기분이 가라앉았던 이야기. 할머니가 골라 준 옷이 마음에 들지 않는다며 투정 부리던 날. 그리고 무엇보다 할머니가 너무 좋아서 등원길에 하트를 날리던 날까지.

My mother carefully writes down every little thing the kids say and do. Someday, when my children are older and I read these journals, I know I will be deeply moved by how much love my mother gave them.
친정어머니는 아이들의 말과 행동 하나하나를 모두 놓치지 않고 꼼꼼히 적어 내려가십니다. 언젠가 아이들이 커서 제가 이 일기를 보게 된다면, 저는 그 누구보다 우리 아이들을 사랑해 주신 엄마의 모습에 눈시울이 뜨거워질 것 같습니다.
