Giving Math Another Try.
To me, math was like mandatory homework. I longed to solve it but didn't know the way, and so I hid it away in a corner. Throughout my middle and high school years, math was a major headache for me.
I always longed to feel the deep sense of satisfaction you get when all the pieces fit together and you solve a math problem. Then one day, I heard about people who give up on math, as a topic on "입트영." I could really relate to the feeling. It felt like they were talking about me.
Later, my friend recommended a book called "30-Day Math," published by EBS. They said it was enogh to get a grasp of elementary and middle school-level math. I went straight to the bookstore and bought a copy. I also purchased a tablet PC to take lectures.
My ambition as a mom is to help my child solve math problems when he enters grade school, even if I can't teach him myself.
수포자의 수학 도전기.
저에게 수학이란 해결하기 열망하지만, 방법을 알지 못해 구석에 박아 둔 숙제와 같은 존재였습니다. 중학교에서 고등학교 시절 내내 수학은 저에게 늘 골칫덩어리였습니다.
저는 수학 문제를 풀고 딱 떨어지는 정답에 희열을 느껴 보고 싶은 열망이 늘 있었습니다. 그러던 어느날, "입트영"의 주제로 나온 수포자에 대한 사연을 듣고 격하게 공감했습니다. 마치 제 이야기를 하는 것 같았습니다.
이후 친구가 EBS에서 나온 "30일 수학"이라는 책을 추천해 줬습니다. 초등학교와 중학교 수준의 수학의 개념을 잡기에 충분하다는 말에, 저는 당장 서점으로 달려가 책을 구입했습니다. 그러고 강의를 듣기 위한 태블릿 PC도 구입했습니다.
아이가 초등학교에 들어가면 직접 가르쳐 주지는 못해도 수학 문제 풀이를 도와주는 것이 엄마로서의 제 포부입니다.
