Talk about atopic dermatitis.
I always knew eczema was a distressing affliction, but I thougt it had nothing to do with me. I only started to look into it after my 3-month-old baby was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is a type of skin irritation with an unknown cause. It most often occurs as an allergic reaction of the skin, and major symptoms include rashes and itchiness.
This itchiness can cause all sorts of problems for eczema patients, including sleep loss and secondary infections. People often feel self-conscious when their skin turns red, which can be very stressful. Atopic dermatitis patients take medication or apply ointments for treatment. They also have to adjust their lifestyle. But the scariest part is that the causes of eczema are unknown, so it might require treatment for the patient's entire life.
저는 피부염이 괴로운 질환이라는 걸 늘 알고는 있었지만 나와 전혀 상관없는 질환이라고 생각했습니다. 하지만 생후 3개월 된 제 아이가 아토피성 피부염으로 진단을 받고 나서야 그에 대해 알아보기 시작했습니다. 아토피성 피부염은 원인을 알 수 없는 피부염의 일종입니다. 피부의 알레르기 반응으로 가장 흔 하게 나타나며, 주요 증상은 피부 발진과 가려움입니다.
이 가려움으로 인해 아토피 피부염 환자들은 수면 부족과 2차 감염 등 여러 가지 문제를 겪기도 합니다. 피부가 붉어지면 남의 시선을 자주 의식하게 되어 스트레스도 상당합니다. 아토피 피부염 환자들은 치료를 위해 약을 복용하거나 연고를 바릅니다. 그들은 또한 생활 습관도 개선해야 합니다. 하지만 가장 무성운 것은 아토피의 원인을 알 수 없기에 평생 치료가 필요할 수도 있다는 점 입니다.
