<대화>

A: It's so hard to find a good house!
B: Yeah. Everything is out of our price range.
A: The housing prices have gone up so much!
B: Maybe we should just rent a house.

A: 좋은 집을 찾는게 정말 힘드네요!
B: 맞아요. 집들이 모두 우리가 생각하는 가격대 이상이에요.
A: 집값이 정말 많이 올랐어요!
B: 아무래도 우리 그냥 세를 살아야 할까 봐요.

Level 2. 이지 잉글리쉬.

A: Arman, I think I saw your cousin in the lobby.
B: Right. She came by to ask me for some advice.
A: What did she want to know about?
B: She just wanted some advice on a job offer. I told her to turn down that offer.
A: Well, if she's free, maybe she could work for us.
B: I already tried, but she wasn't interested.

A: 아르만, 로비에서 네 사촌을 본 것 같은데.
B: 맞아. 나한테 조언을 구하러 들렀어.
A: 뭐에 대해 알고 싶어 했는데?
B: 그냥 일자리 제안에 대한 조언을 좀 듣고 싶어 했어. 그 제안을 거절하라고 했지.
A: 음, 사촌 동생이 일이 없으면 우리 일을 할 수도 있을 텐데.
B: 벌써 말해 봤는데, 관심이 없더라고.

<말하기 패턴>

Level 3. 입트영.

<문장>

Talk about recent changes in college departments.

Colleges in the past were divided into traditional departments including the liberal arts, social science, natural science, engineering, and medicine. But there is an emphasis on convergence education these days, Korean college are combining multiple departments so that students can choose to major in new fields of expertise.

The department of international Studies is a good example of this. core subjects from departments like political science and diplomacy, business administration, social enconomics, and history are combined to be studied in a single department. To cultivate talent for this age of globalization, all classes are held in English.

In the global ear, convergence educaion built on a variety of different studies is considered superior to education focused on just one subject area. I think these are changeds for the better, to train talented people appropriate for a globalized era.

대학 학과의 최근 변화에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

예전에 대학교는 인문 과학, 사회 과학, 자연 과학, 공학 및 의학 등의 전통적인 학과로 분류되어 있었다. 그러나 요즘은 융합 교육을 강조하면서 우리나라 대학도 몇 개의 학과를 통합하여 학생들이 새로운 전공 분야를 선택할 수 있도록 한다.

그 대표적인 예로 국제학부가 있다. 정치 외교, 사회 경제, 역사 등 여러 학과의 핵심 전공 과목을 모아 하나의 학과에서 공부할 수 있도록 만든 학과이다. 국제화 시대의 인재 양성을 위해 모든 강의는 영어로 진행된다.

글로벌 시대에 맞춰, 하나의 교과 영역에 집중된 교육보다는 여러 학문의 다양성을 기초로 한 융합 교육이 더 우수한 것으로 여겨진다. 국제화 시대에 적합한 인재를 양성할 수 있는 긍정적인 변화인 것 같다.
