1. I can't believe ~ (난 ~을 믿을 수가 없어요)

이제까지 내내 그가 거짓말을 해 왔다니 믿기지가 않네요.

2. has/have been in ~ for ~ (~ 동안 ~에 있어 왔어요)

Sally has been in this law firm for 5 years.
John has been in this company for 2 years.
We have been in the book business for 10 years.

샐리는 이 로펌에서 5년간 일해 왔죠.
존은 이 회사에 2년간 일해 왔죠.
우리는 출판업게에서 지난 10년간 일해 왔죠.

Level 2. 이지 잉글리쉬.

<대화>

A: How much does it cost?
B: It depends on his weight. The minimum cost is 40,000 won. Please put him on the scale.
A: Okay. (to the dog) Jump on up, buddy.
B: He's 5.8 kilos, so there's additional cost of 5,000 won.
A: So that means 45,000 won in total?

A: 비용이 얼마죠?
B: 체중에 따라 달라요. 기본료는 4만원입니다. 개를 체중계에 올려주세요.
A: 네. (개를 향해) 올라가렴, 얘야.
B: 5.8킬로그램이라 5천원 추가 비용이 있어요.
A: 그러니까 4만 5천원이라는 말씀이시죠?

Talk aobut the atmosphere of overseas workplaces.

My first job was at a hotel that was located overseas. Nowadays, I work at a hotel in Korea. I don't usually dwell on the past, but the truth is that lately, I often long for good old days.

Everything was peachy when I worked overseas. I was such good friends with everyone that the word "coworker" felt cold. My job never felt like hard work. Instead, I felt like I was just having a good time with friends. I could call my boss by his or her name. The work enviroment encouraged me to freely speak my mind.

Of course, the place where I work now is by no means a bad atmosphere. But sometimes, it feels stuffy. Every place has its pros and cons. There is always something to learn, so the wise course of action would be to adjust and better myself.

외국의 근무 환경에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

나의 첫 직장은 외국 소재 호텔이었다. 현재는 국내 호텔에서 근무 중이다. 나는 보통 지난 과거에 미련을 두는 편은 아니지만, 요즘 따라 부쩍 예전이 그리워지는 것은 사실이다.

외국에서 근무했을 당시에는 모든 것이 좋았다. "동료"라는 단어가 딱딱하게 들릴 정도로 모두 친구 같은 존재였다. 일도 힘든 업무라 느껴진 적이 없고, 친구들과 즐거운 시간을 보내는 것처럼 느껴졌다. 상사에게도 편하게 이름을 부를 수 있었고, 언제든지 자유롭게 내 의사 표현을 할 수 있는 근무 환경이었다.

물론 현재 내가 일하는 곳의 환경이 결코 나쁘지는 않다. 그러나 종종 마음이 답답할 때가 있다. 어디든지 장단점은 존재한다. 어디서든 배울점이 있는 법이니, 잘 적응해서 스스로 발전해 나가는 것이 현명한 행동일 것이다.
