Talk about trains in Korea.
한국의 기차들에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

[Response]

Several of the larger cities in Korea are interconnected by trains. There are different classes of trains, depending on their speed. The ticket prices are higher for faster trains. In 2004, the KTX bullet train began operation. The SRT bullet train followed suit in 2017. The speeds of these bullet trains are quicker than ordinary trains by a factor of two or more. They can reach speeds of 300km per hour, or even higher. The emergence of these trains has cut transit time by half.

[해석]

우리나라는 여러 대도시들이 기차로 연결되어 있다. 기차들은 속도에 따라서 몇 가지 등급이 있다. 빠른 기차일수록 기차표 가격이 비싸다. 2004 년에는 초고속 열차인 KTX 가 운행을 시작했다. 그리고 2017년에는 SRT 라는 초고속 열차가 개통되었다. 이 초고속 열차들의 속도는 기존 열차들에 비해 2배 이상 빠르다. 최고 시속이 300km/h 이상이다. 이러한 기차들의 등장으로 이동 시간이 절반으로 즐었다.

[Response]

In the past, you had to go to a ticket counter at the train station to get tickets. I remember having to stand in line for a long time. Later, you could book tickets for trains online, so I made reservations on computer screens. Smartphones have become the norm since then, and many users get their tickets through ticketing apps. If you type in the departure station and final destination, the app shows you the available times. You can pick out a seat and pay for the ticket right then and there. then you get a mobile boarding pass on your phone. Getting a train ticket these days is hassle-free.

[해석]

예전에는 기차표를 기차역의 매표소 창구에 가야만 살 수 있었다. 줄을 서서 오랫동안 기다려야 했뎐 기억이 난다. 그러다가 인터넷으로 기차표를 예매할 수 있게 되어서 컴퓨터 화면을 보며 예매를 했다. 그 이후 스마트폰이 보편화되고 나서는, 상당수의 이용객들이 기차표 예매 앱을 이용해서 표를 구매한다. 앱에 출발역과 도착역을 입력하면 선택 가능한 시간들이 표시된다. 좌석을 고를 수 있고, 표 결제도 바로 할 수 있다. 그러면 휴대폰에 모바일 기차표가 발권된다. 요즘에는 기차표를 사기가 정말 편리하다.
