[Extra Topics for Study Groups]

1. What are the pros and cons of low cost carriers?
2. Share some tips for reserving a good seat on a plane.
3. What is your favorite thing about flying? What's your least favorite thing?

STEP 1

Talk about full service carrier (FSC).

[Response]

The biggest advantage of full service carriers is that they provide full services in their planes. There are differences depending on seat class. However, they provide most services like in-flight meals and checked baggage. FSCs also make it easy to travel since they have direct flight for long-haul routes. It's also easier to collect frequent flyer miles. The only drawback of major airlines is that they are very pricey. Tickets get even more expensive during peak seasons.

STEP 2

Talk about low cost carriers (LCC).

[Response]

Low cost carriers are airlines that provide affordable prices by doing away with unnecessary services. Often, they don't provide in-flight meals or drinks free of charge. If you need them, you have to pay for them. The maximum weight allowed for checked baggage is lower, too. However, most passengers are more than willing to make do without these services. Instead, they get lower prices for tickets. Catching on to this trend, major airlines are also operating LCCs.
