Materials that conduct electricity are called conductors. If electricity can't flow through a material, it's an insulator. In general, semiconductors can conduct electricity depending on the conditions. Semiconductors are widely used in all the electronic devices that we use. They are a key part of electronic devices, and a big business. Korean companies are doing well in the semiconductor field.

전기가 흐르는 물질을 도체라고 한다. 반면, 전기가 흐르지 않는 물질은 부도체다. 반도체는 일반적으로는 상황에 따라 전기가 흐를 수 있는 물질이다. 반도체는 우리가 사용하고 있는 모든 전자 기기에 널리 사용된다. 전자 기기의 핵심 부품이고 대규모 산업이기도 하다. 우리나라 기업들은 반도체 분아에서 강세를 보이고 있다.

Korea is a power player in the semiconductor business. Semiconductors are a key export for Korea's top companies. Semiconductor devices can be categorized as memory and non-memory devices. Non-memory devices are commonly known as CPUs. They play a large part in determining an electronic device's performance level. Memory devices can store or modify data used to process a job. Portable devices have become the norm lately, so demand for semiconductors is experiencing explosive growth.

대한만국은 반도체 깅국이다. 반도체는 대한민국 굴지 기업들의 주요 수출 품목이기도 하다. 반도체는 크게 메모리와 비메모리로 나뉘어진다. 비메모리 소자는 우리가 흔히 알고 았는 중앙 처리 장치다. 전자 장치의 성능을 좌우하는 데 큰 역할을 하는 것이 바로 이 비메모리 반도체이다. 메모리 소자는 작업 처리에 사용되는 데이터를 저장하거나 수정하는 가능을 한다. 휴대용 기기가 보편화된 요즘 이러한 반도체의 수요는 폭발적으로 증가하고 있다.
