Working From Home.

One of the biggest changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic is a change of attitude regarding working from home. Before 2020, cmpanies instituting remote working were almost unheard of in Korea. But now, many companies recognize it as a way to work.

As an employee, working from home is a time saver because it eliminates the commute. People can better apply themselves to their work with fewer in-person reports. They can also focus on their family more. Greater job satisfaction among these workers can also lead to improved productivity for the company.

But companies worry that remote working can reduce camaraderie between workers, and the creativity that comes from chance encouters. Still, taking into account the emphasis on improved work-life balance these days, I expect that working from home will continue to spread.

재택근무.

코로나 팬데믹이 가져온 가장 큰 변화 중 하나는 재택근무에 대한 인식의 변화이다. 2020년 이전까지는 우리나라에서 재택근무를 도입한 기업은 거의 없었다. 하지만 지금은 많은 기업에서 이를 하나의 근무 형태로 인정하고 있다.

직원 입장에서는 재택근무를 하면 출퇴근이 없어지기 때문에 시간이 절약된다. 그리고 대면 보고 감소로 인해 업무에 집중을 더 잘할 수 있고, 가정생활에 더욱 충실할 수도 있다. 이러한 직원들의 업무 만족도 개선은 기업의 생산성 향상으로 이어질 수 있다.

그러나 기업 입장에서는 직원들 간의 유대감 저하와 우연한 만남에서 오는 창의성 발현 감소 등을 우려하기도 한다. 그럼에도 일과 삶의 균형을 중시하는 분위기를 고려해 볼 때 재택근무의 확산은 지속될 것이라고 예상한다.
